The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative / Office support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions ( NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. You'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day. Pay rate: $18.07/hr. This is the maximum wage available for this position level as set by the grant program. Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium (when working 60+ hours in a 2 week pay period), Paid Accrued Vacation, Paid Accrued Sick Time, Eleven Paid Federal Holidays, One Individual Holiday, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available. This position does require a background check prior to onboarding. Must be a United States Citizen to be eligible for this position. Applicants must live within commutable distance to downtown San Francisco and be willing and able to work onsite in the EPA office as scheduled.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Agriculture, pesticide application, pesticide manufacturing OR HS/GED Degree OR Previously completed training in pesticide application, pesticide manufacturing

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:

This position provides support to Region 9's pesticide enforcement program on issues associated with Section 7 and Imports, and worker protection inspections and data review. This position requires providing compliance assistance to pesticide producing establishments to ensure timely, accurate and compliant submission of Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) Section 7 production reports.

  • Responsible for all aspects of Region 9's Section 7 data management system. Provides support to Region 9's pesticide enforcement program on issues associated with Section 7 and other enforcement data management needs. Provides technical support to EPA Region 9 case review officers and state regulatory partners on regulatory issues associated with pesticide producers. Identifies potential noncomplying facilities to case review officers for follow-up. Identifies pesticide producing establishments for neutral scheme inspection targets   25%
  • Provides support and assistance with FIFRA Imports, worker protection standards, pesticides misuse, and marketplace inspections in the field and remotely. Assists with applicable pre-inspection/investigation/evaluation research, including review of applicable databases, facility files, sector information, and if appropriate, responses to information requests. Makes appropriate health and safety preparations by following Enforcement and Compliance Assurance Division?s Standard Operating Procedure for Health and Safety and by developing field activity health and safety plan. Attends all appropriate inspection, health and safety, and field operation guideline trainings and refresher courses and continuously self studies technical requirements. Independently conducts thorough inspection/investigation/evaluations which demonstrate knowledge of program requirements, including statutes, regulations, Agency policies, and guidance, and their applicability to the inspected entities.   25%
  • This position requires providing compliance assistance to pesticide producing establishments to ensure timely, accurate and compliant submission of FIFRA Section 7 production reports. Provides guidance to facilities regarding registration of their facility as a pesticide producing facility in compliance with appropriate EPA requirements.   25%
