Duties:Provide high level technical support to the Radiological Emergency Response Team staff and the Air Sampler and Vehicle Program Managers at the National Center for Radiation Field Operations (NCRFO) in Las Vegas. Support the Air Sampler Program Manager in maintaining NCRFO?s air samplers including evaluation, calibration and repair of instruments; conduct inventory of equipment; maintain records on calibration, quality control checks, shipping, maintenance and calibration parameters of instruments. Assist Vehicle Manager in maintaining, tracking and repairing emergency response vehicles and other mobile assets. Tasks identified within this PD are generally not portable and enrollee will be expected to report to the office to perform required tasks as directed by their monitor up to 5 days per week. - Perform specialized air sampler repair, maintenance & calibration. Follow appropriate guidelines & procedures of the Quality Program to ascertain that calibrations are performed correctly. Perform Quality Control checks on instrumentation as required to assess and evaluate instrument performance and maintain related QA documents associated with tracking instrument performance and reliability. Perform troubleshooting on instrument calibration and QC check issues, which includes presenting collected data, developing strategies, and proposing solutions. Propose, advise, and provide ongoing assistance to the Air Sampler Program Manager with developing strategies for QC check protocols when new scenarios arise. Evaluate any instrument damage. Research, recommend, and perform in-house repairs when feasible. Identify/research air sampler parts and supplies. Advise on equipment upgrades/improvement. These activities will involve a moderate degree of independent work, data interpretation and calculations 35%
- Perform and verify vehicle and generator operations. Schedule/track vehicle maintenance and cleaning as needed. Organize and monitor tools and parts. Identify / research vehicle parts and equipment for purchase 20%
- Maintain and update logbooks, computer databases, and other documentation and records related to calibration, maintenance, repair and shipping of air samplers and vehicle assets . Use computer-based spreadsheets or databases for management of inventory 15%
- Assist in preparing or revising air sampler and other documentation for the use, maintenance, and calibration of equipment. Ensure proper handling, labeling and documentation following IAW federal regulations. Assist with training preparation that includes the preparation and the hands-on training of air samplers. 10%
- Maintain, inventory and track emergency response consumable items. 10%
- Prepare/assist with the deployment of air samplers and vehicle assets, and assist with inventory, inspection , storage of returned equipment. 5%
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Deputy Director, Center Director, Monitor or Alternate Monitor. 5%

- Health Safety Training: Enrollee must receive NRC-approved training, "Basic Radiation Worker Training." Individual must also receive training from National Center for Radiation Field Operations (NCRFO) staff on equipment operation and calibration and maintenance procedures.
- Health and Safety Considerations: Enrollee will receive this required training prior to related work assignment and participation
- Lifting less than 50lbs, such as moving cases of instruments in preparation for deployment, testing, storage, and or shipping. Possible exposure to hot/cold weather. Physical activities could include conducting maintenance at/near rotating and operating equipment.
- Potential exposure to radiation sources and other chemicals and hazardous materials such as oil, lubricants, greases, and other equipment and vehicle maintenance-related materials/waste.
