Being Age 55 or Older is Good for The Environment! The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative / Office support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. You'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day. Hours: 40 per week, Monday ? Friday Days, no nights or weekends Pay rate: $22.21/hr. Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium, Paid Accrued Vacation, Paid Accrued Sick Time, Eleven Paid Federal Holidays, One Individual Holiday, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available. This position requires a background security check including questionnaire, fingerprinting and identification verification prior to start. Please note that due to EPA Policy, this opportunity only applies to United States Citizens

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Teaching, business or government OR BA/BS Degree in Engineering, Science or related field of study.

  • Preparing and giving presentations, working with technical and professional staff regarding chemicals, understanding of chemical, engineering and health and safety principles.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook
Duties:

Provide expert level advice and recommendations related to the prevention of waste generation at the source and the promotion of Safer Choices brand. Utilize scientific knowledge and policies to coordinate and support efforts towards solid waste reduction and pollution prevention.

  • Develop and implement policies and strategies to advance the Pollution Prevention and Sustainable Materials Management with Region 7 tribes, states, communities and partners.   25%
  • Develops and implements strategies to advance the Pollution Prevention and Sustainable Materials Management with Region 7 tribes and states with industry and consumers for use of new products.   25%
  • Works with EPA, tribes and state staff and Technical Assistance Programs on Safer Choice and sustainable materials management (SMM)in particular state solid waste data reporting   25%
  • Conducts outreach as assigned on Pollution Prevention, safer choice, sustainable materials management, and energy star.   25%

Other:
  • EPA required training such as IT Security
  • Microsoft office suite, solid waste and/or material management as needed
  • Travel Requirements: travel to outreach events, training or conferences
  • Overnight travel: 2-3- days per month
  • Air travel anticipated: 2-3 days per year
  • Rental cars: 2-3 days per year if POV not available
