The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative / Office support for individuals age 55 and over and per EPA Policy applicants must be US Citizen to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Environmental Science OR BA/BS Degree in Environmental or Health and Safety or Science/Engineering OR Previously completed training in Health and Safety or Engineering

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, Copying Machine
Duties:

Provide expert level scientific and professional support to the Land, Chemicals and Redevelopment Division with providing assistance to Region 7 Tribes on various environmental programs. These include solid and hazardous waste, sustainable materials management, pollution prevention, pesticide safety, and integrated pest management. Must have experience developing and providing presentations and demonstrations to the general public and/or stakeholders to include outreach on program activities. Must be able to develop and deliver programs to stakeholders independently and possess necessary skills to successfully navigate challenging or sensitive discussions with stakeholders.

  • Provide direct and expert level assistance to Tribes, both onsite and from the office and provide general outreach. Must be able to develop and deliver programs to stakeholders independently and possess necessary skills to successfully navigate challenging or sensitive discussions with stakeholders.   35%
  • Provide assistance to technical staff in planning and implementing compliance and technical assistance events which would include meetings, trainings, and other related activities. Must be capable of participating in all phases of this assistance with minimal training.   30%
  • Collaborate, initiate and engage with Region 7 staff and other EPA Regions and Headquarters, and other Federal, State and Local Agencies to support Region 7 Tribes.   20%
  • Other related duties as assigned such as preparing outreach materials, managing outreach materials and event related information (e.g. registrations, materials, and evaluations).   15%

  • Program specific training as needed. e.g. Integrated Pest Management principles/planning.
  • Travel Requirements: approximately 2 nights per month
  • Overnight travel: approximately 2 nights per month
  • Rental cars: Approximately 2-3 days per month
  • Health Safety Training: General health and safety training as provided by EPA Region 7
  • Health and Safety Considerations: EPA Region 7 will provide.
  • Required Safety Gear: hardhat, gloves, steel-toed shoes and safety googles.
  • Safety Gear Use: Open dump visit containing solid waste with the potential for some hazardous
