Cargo and Loss Prevention Safety Specialist
Summary
The Cargo and Loss Prevention Safety Specialist is responsible for the prevention of losses related to cargo, cargo securement, and injury. This position is responsible for ensuring proper securement training for all ATS companies, with specialized equipment, flatbed equipment and van trailers. This position is also responsible for the prevention of cargo losses through proactive measures targeting securement errors, enroute damage, and customer and cargo specifications. This position partners with Sales to onboard customers and freight, to ensure ATS can haul cargo injury, and damage free. In addition, this position is responsible for Hazmat and Hazmat training, along with OSHA compliance.
Education and Experience
- College degree and/or safety certifications & a minimum of 4 years' experience in a large safety organization is preferred.
- Valid CDL A
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and Department of Transportation safety regulations.
- Must have the ability to operate basic office machines including telephone, 10-key, and personal computer.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize and perform workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Effective communication skills (written, listening, verbal).
- Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work independently.
- Must be a team player, amenable to a variety of work projects.
- Must be analytical with the ability to apply data.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and coordinate cargo securement training and work with drivers to establish/maintain proper cargo handling methods.
- Analyze established metrics on company cargo losses.
- Create and manage Systems to proactively eliminate or reduce the risks of future cargo damage and losses.
- Determine Root causes of Cargo damage claims. Provide Ruling determinations on preventability.
- Determine corrective actions related to cargo losses, coordinate the sustainable implementation of corrective actions.
- Work with customer service and directly with customers on cargo securement and cargo transportation packaging plans as needed.
- Partners with internal and external partners on safety, equipment, and compliance issues when specific safety issues exist.
- Analyze established metrics on Driver and Employee injuries.
- Develop, implement, and facilitate injury prevention techniques into current training.
- Determine Root Cause analysis of employee and driver injury events. Determine and implement corrective measures for future injury prevention. Lead key departmental stakeholders to implement sustainable corrective measures for injury prevention in their departments.
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis for safety sensitive positions within the company. Properly maintain and document the Job Hazard Analysis.
- Develop, implement, and facilitate OSHA shop safety audit schedule.
- Maintain and develop Injury metrics and reporting.
- Create metric and maintain reporting capabilities for Securement and Cargo protection programs.
- Provides back-up and assistance as needed for Flatbed Securement training, multi-axle training, forklift training and driver training (Road Testing, Annual In Person and Orientation Safety Training).
- Provides Driver Coaching in support of ATS safety programs (Speed Management, Behavior Management, Securement and Cargo Handling).
- Train Hazmat Employees on Hazardous Materials Handling for Transportation.
- Provide Hazardous Materials support to ATS transportation departments.

- Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours, and infrequent travel may be required. Position fields Securement questions outside of business hours.

Compensation & Benefits
• The anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000. Base salary offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic as compared to others doing substantially similar work. In addition to the base salary, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which can vary depending on individual and/or company performance.
