JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Title:                           Raceway EMT/Safety

Department:              Fox Raceway

Division:                     Public Safety

Position(s):                Part-Time

Supervisor:                Track Manager

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) shall immediately respond to emergency requests for service within the Fox Raceway boundaries to provide appropriate medical care within the scope of practice of the EMT to the critically ill and injured, and to assist arriving First Responders in the treatment and care and of the patient(s) according to those Policies and Procedures established by the San Diego County Emergency Medical Services system.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to emergencies within the Fox Raceway boundaries in a timely manner
  • Represents the company by being courteous, professional and a patient advocate
  • Operate and drive a squad with regard to state and company safety policies
  • Monitor communication equipment to maintain contact with track flaggers in and about the motocross tracks
  • Turn-in appropriate documents completed and provide appropriate documentation as required
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with all appropriate OSHA standards, company polices and local standard operating procedures
  • Comply with all protocols for treatment and transportation of the sick and injured as defined by the company, local and regional medical control
  • Maintain and replenish vehicle, equipment and supplies as needed
  • Administer basic life support, and assist in rescue
  • Operate two-way radio equipment to current standards
  • Clean, inspect, and test equipment carried on rescue squad and in the first-aid facility
  • Participate in building and grounds maintenance
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance while maintaining a courteous professional and ethical behavior while working cooperatively with other members of the health care system, co-workers, and the public
  • Regular attendance consistent with scheduled hours, willing to work overtime as needed
  • Use, care, and respect with all equipment and supplies on a daily basis
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Operations Supervisor
  • Safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in any form
  • Provide appropriate medical care and treatment to patients in both emergent and non-emergent settings as defined by state and local regulatory agencies
  • Neatly and accurately document pertinent information on all required forms/documents (patient care records, supplies, Medicare signature forms, and PCS forms)
  • Attend all company required training

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care according to the level of training and scope of practice in the County of San Diego
  • Ability to accurately map to a destination
  • Know how to use and care for fire extinguishers
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Establish effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Ensure that all required certifications are current and remain current
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ensure that all required medical credentials remain current at all times
  • Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and combination of training, education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Current State of California EMT Certification
  • Current San Diego County EMT Certification
  • Current CPR Certification card
  • Current CA Driver’s License in good standing
  • Satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s Driving Policy
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing prior to job offer
  • Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians
  • Must pass pre-employment Criminal Background Check

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

All employees are expected to follow the Tribal Employee Handbook of the Pala Band of Mission Indians and must adhere to any additional applicable addendums.

 

Physical Conditions: Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for arduous work and frequent bending, turning, reaching, grasping, kneeling, standing, sitting, and walking.  Moderate to heavy pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying.
