Buyer II
This position is responsible for reviewing procurement requirements, placing, following up, expediting and negotiating purchase orders.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participates in the manufacturing planning to coordinate materials supply to meet Master Schedule or Revenue plans.
- Responsible for key metrics for assigned commodities (PPV, Supplier Delivery, PO Maintenance).
- Responsible for and works independently on most standard procurement activities (Quotes, Requisitions, PO generation, PO follow up and maintenance).
- Systematically reviews purchase orders with suppliers and takes appropriate action to ensure materials arrive on time to meet production schedule requirements.
- Participate in the evaluation, risk assessment, and supplier development activities.
- Maintains up to date purchasing files for current pricing and lead-time (SPDS).
- Review various reports to identify procurement requirements.
- Prepare Purchase Requisitions to order required items.
- Procures items, which are essential and/or critical to support manufacturing groups.
- Places orders in accordance with Purchasing Department procedures in order to meet Production Control schedule requirements.
- Uses office equipment such as computers, copiers, calculator, and other related office supplies.
- Places orders with vendors or customers consistent with department guidelines.
- Interfaces with receiving as required.
- Maintains and keeps current files, logs, and other records.
- Follows established safety procedures.
- Works with Accounts Payable on disputed invoices and interfaces with vendors to resolve any questions regarding pricing or payment terms.
- Assists with special projects.
- Arranges for the sale of scrap, obsolete and surplus materials.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree. Relevant experience in purchasing/planning (5+ years progressive); high mix, low volume experience preferred ability/experience in transforming from a transactional intensive environment.
- Strong proficiency with MRP and Microsoft office.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Uses office equipment such as computers, copies, calculator and other related office supplies.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, team building and organization skills.
- Strong negotiation skills required.
- Knowledge of broad range of commodities, materials, products and services to be purchased.
