About the Role

A Cochran Sr. Estimator supervises trains and mentors Estimators as well as leads estimates from beginning to end.  A Sr. Estimator will also organize departmental resources and manage the estimating process, keeping in mind deadlines and importance of accuracy and completeness. This role will report to a Chief Estimator.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Management, training and mentoring of Estimator(s)
  • Conceptual Budgeting and Estimating
  • Programming and scope determination and confirmation.
  • Customer interface
  • Project Interviews / Presentations
  • Complete estimate set-up in estimating software.
    • Estimate breakdowns
    • Multiple user files
  • Develops and reviews scope letters
  • RFQ Process for major material and equipment packages
  • Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for completeness and accuracy
  • Design as required for budgeting / estimating
  • Create, use, and manipulate Excel spreadsheets and Word documents
  • Regular interface with Chief Estimator for direction, progress, adjustments
  • Other duties as assigned.

We are looking for someone with the following competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university and 4+ years electrical estimating experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Understanding of electrical theory and basic electrical installation.
  • AA in construction management or 1-3+ years of experience estimating in the AEC industry preferred. Understanding of electrical theory and electrical installations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policy and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; Accubid or related estimating software.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.

An employee's compensation level within the range will be based on several factors, including but not limited to geographic location, experience, relevant education, qualifications, skills, organizational needs, and performance. *Bonus pay based on percentage of salary, adjusted by company and individual performance.
