Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Distribution Unit Manager is responsible for leading the DC crew member’s daily operations activity to ensure goals are met to exceed customer expectations
Essential Functions:
- Meet daily goals for receiving inventory, picking and shipping orders accurately plus cycle counts
- Drive productivity to improve profitability, reduce waste, and manage expenses
- Develop a safety culture that prioritizes employee safety and meets corporate objectives
- Create a clean and well-organized warehouse environment
- Ensure all maintenance of the equipment is performed on time
- Responsible for the hiring, training, and directing of the distribution crewmembers
- Lead by example, focusing on the well-being and growth of DC employees, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and mutual support
- Encourage open communication, active listening, and problem-solving across all levels of staff
- Create an environment that motivates employees to perform at their best while prioritizing their personal and professional development
- Meet company objectives for turnover, retention and recruiting
- Act as a problem solver for business challenges, operational inefficiencies, or employee-related issues
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operations
Requirements:
- Significant experience in DC management or operations within the building materials or distribution industries
- Demonstrated experience leading and motivating hourly crew members
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a track record of building and developing a safety culture and high-performing teams
- Lift and carry loads up to 75 pounds
- Problem solver, able to quickly solve issues, and offer improvement ideas
- Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Regular and punctual attendance and ability to work weekends and holidays when necessary
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, and push and pull
- Requires ordinary conversation, hearing, and visual acuity
