Position Summary:

The Load Planner is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient flow of materials, goods, and services required for production, transportation, or project completion. This role involves managing the tracking and coordination of orders, addressing delays or issues, and maintaining smooth operations to meet deadlines. You will work closely with our fabrication team to create custom shipping procedures and track the execution of such procedures.

As Load Planner, you will:

  • Monitor the status of orders from suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and equipment
  • Work with general contractor transportation specialists to create cohesive/integrated planning processes to ensure efficient shipping for all parties
  • Expedite the delivery of materials by working with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve delays and shortages
  • Create and manage lifting and transport plans for custom modules constructed in our warehouse
  • Plan and coordinate transport of manpower to remote sites
  • Ensure that loads are efficiently packed, minimizing space and reducing transportation costs, coordinate with fabrication shop on creation of packages to maximize efficiency for shipping
  • Work closely with Fabrication shop, carriers, warehouses, and other departments to schedule loads and ensure timely delivery, track loads with multiple stops and transportation methods on route to remote locations
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed for each load, including shipping instructions, bills of lading, receipt inspections and compliance with transportation regulations
  • Maintain records of shipments and work with teams to handle invoicing and billing discrepancies
  • Review procurement of equipment to find any logistic related issues or deficiencies, address any issues related to order delays, quality problems, or discrepancies with shipments.
  • Identify potential delays or disruptions in supply chains and take immediate action to resolve them, troubleshoot logistical issues related to shipping, inventory, or production, and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions
  • Identify and resolve any issues related to damaged goods, shipping delays or other transportation-related concerns
  • Maintain accurate records of all expedited orders, including purchase orders, invoices, shipping documents, and delivery confirmations
  • Prepare regular status reports for management and operations, highlighting any issues, delays, or areas for improvement
  • Track any required maintenance records of stocked equipment in storage
  • Assist with tracking the progress of projects, ensuring the timely arrival of components or materials necessary to meet project milestones
  • Identify opportunities to streamline order processing and improve delivery timelines

 

Our ideal candidate has:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience, 3-5 years of experience in expediting, procurement, or logistics is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes and procurement practices
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively under tight deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal teams
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software or inventory management systems
  • Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or project-based environment
  • Ability to seek opportunities to improve processes and reduce operational inefficiencies
  • Familiarity with North American shipping and customs procedures
  • Knowledge of lean supply chain practices or process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma)
