Safety Coordinator

Summary: Works with the Safety team to promote the organization's safety programs. Assists in the development, implementation, and management of safety programs, policies, and procedures. Must be aware of federal, state, and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all regulations.  The position requires travel to various company sites to conduct safety audits, training and inspections.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to Company facilities across the U.S. and Canada to conduct onsite inspections of facilities, equipment, various types of vehicles, as well as to conduct training 
    • This will require traveling out of state/overnight stays up to 20% of time and the ability to stand and walk for several hours at a time.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal & various State(s) regulations 
  • Assist with conducting investigations or reviews into employee safety incidents, inquiries, near misses, suggestions, and complaints
  • Maintain required safety documents/files
  • Assist in updating Company safety policies 
  • Keep OSHA logs up to date  
  • Participate with team in developing, improving, maintaining and implementing safety policies, programs and procedures for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Assist in promoting Company safety culture
  • Coordinate and conduct training on safety policies and procedures
  • Manage and log safety required inspections of vehicles and equipment
  • Assist during 3rd party (Customer, OSHA, DOT, DNR, etc.) audits/inspections 
  • Perform job duties in compliance with the policies and procedures of the department and Company
  • Respect the confidentiality of information learned through one’s employment
  • Demonstrate adaptability to change and work in different environments
  • Attend educational and Company-related meetings and share learnings/experience with others
  • Process and follow up on worker’s compensation claims
  • Track DOT score, Driver Check observation reports, and Driver Medical Card to maintain up to date files
  • Perform various other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in a Safety related job or education in safety or related field, required
  • Experience working in manufacturing/warehouse related safety operations, preferred
  • Experience working in a multi-location company, preferred
  • Valid driver license/driving record that is acceptable by Company’s insurance carrier, required
  • Ability to travel out of state 10-20% of time
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with DOT compliance
  • Experience with worker’s compensation claims handling and management
  • OSHA Certification (10 Hour/30 Hour)
