Director of Crisis Outreach Services

This is a responsible professional position that manages and supervises crisis services.  This position supervises four adult in-home teams, one ACT team, and provides oversight of the coordination of probate liaison services to include supervision of placement and tracking of individuals under a civil commitment.    

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Direct, supervise and manage the Crisis Evaluation and Support Team in Montgomery.  This team services as a liaison with the Office of Probate in Montgomery and assists individuals seeking to file petitions for civil commitments.

Direct, supervise and manage the Placement Coordinator, who is responsible for coordinating the placement of all consumers who are under a civil commitment.  The Placement Coordinator is responsible for entering real-time updates to the ADMH Gateway database that tracks all inpatient and outpatient civil commitments.

Direct, supervise and manage the Assertive Community Team (ACT), which carries a caseload that covers all four counties.

Direct, supervise and manage the adult mobile crisis teams that serve all four counties.

Direct, supervise, and manage the adult in-home teams in all four counties, including those that serve as probate liaison in Elmore and Autauga counties.

Direct, supervise, and manage the after-hours on-call emergency services clinicians.

Manage budgetary and clinical operations to ensure maximum efficiency maintained.

Monitor the provision of services to referred individuals to include, but not be limited to, intake and assessment, physician assessment and treatment, medication administration, medication monitoring, individual and/or group therapy, case management, crisis intervention and resolution, mental health consultation, family therapy, family support and education and basic living skills training.

Provide direct services to clients in crisis as needed.

Participate in training activities to increase therapeutic and administrative skills.

Complete reports required for client records as well as all forms, reports and paperwork required by the Agency in a timely manner.

Responsible for ensuring that the program complies with AL Department of Mental Health Standards, Medicaid Provider Manual and any other applicable state and federal laws or regulations.

Responsible for ensuring program staff are current with required training.

Responsible for overseeing program staff’s time and productivity.

Responsible for program operating within a defined budget.

Conduct monthly staff meetings and other staffing meetings as required by program standards.

Document any services provided in the Electronic Health Record.

Provide oversight of staff’s documentation in the Electronic Health Record by running reports, reviewing charts, and providing staff training as needed.

Perform related work as assigned by supervisor.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in developing and directing clinical program activities.

Extensive knowledge and training in the dynamics of individual and group behavior with special emphasis on the problems of the chronically mentally ill.

Experience in supervising the job performance of clinical staff.

Experience in providing a broad range of clinical services to clients suffering from mental illness.

Knowledge of psychotropic drugs concerning their use, misuse, desirable and undesirable effects.

Knowledge of both mental health center and community resources for persons with serious mental illness.

Ability and willingness to provide services in traditional settings and non-traditional settings.

Ability to relate well to clients, family, court personnel, mental health professionals and other agency/service providers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field plus five years of progressive experience in a mental health setting, including administrative and supervisory experience. 

Degree and experience must meet requirements Approved Medicaid Provider Status.

Must hold a valid Driver's License and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar’s insurance carrier.

Must maintain at least liability insurance coverage on personal vehicles. 

Must be licensed or license eligible. If license eligible, must have LGSW or ALC credential within three months of hire date.
