Junior Business Data Analyst

Job Scope:

The Operations Data Analyst, under the direction of the Compliance and PMO Manager or appointed representative, will gather, analyze and correct operations data for the organization, supporting management and leadership in making informed and objective business and policy decisions.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with operations and business leaders to understand management objectives and data housed in internal application systems.
  • Understands business processes and workflows pertinent to entering and populating data sets in the application systems.
  • Ensures data integrity by cleaning up and correcting data sets in the systems that were
    • entered for testing purposes, and
    • analyzes data sets for correctness, accuracy and completeness.
  • Establishes, prepares and maintains exception reports from the application systems to be used by users and management.
  • Prepares and distributes or delivers reports that identify, explain, and evaluate problems and available solutions.
  • Selects computational or data manipulation methods to be used in research and analysis.
  • Applies validation and testing models to data.
  • Develops mathematical models and/or creates simulation models of problems, applying expected constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, numerical parameters, and conflicting objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to create and conduct simulation models, data reduction and correction, and trend analysis.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with application systems and data sets software (ERP, CRM and the likes)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field required;
  • Prior related experience preferred.
  • Degree in computer science and/or statistics preferred and desirable.
  • Experience in analyzing large data sets and databases.
  • Experience with WellSky and HRIS (ADP) systems would be helpful.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand short instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to effectively communicate through written and verbal language
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, group situations and other employees of the organization in a professional manner

Reasoning Abilities:

  • Ability to evaluate situations and make complex decisions using critical thinking and reasoning.

Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to work indoors in a predominately sedentary position. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Working with keyboards, mouse, laptops and monitors to perform duties of the job.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
