Are you a seasoned accounting professional with a knack for leadership and precision? We are seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant to join our team and play a crucial role in the financial health and growth of our company.

With a legacy dating back to 1970, Comfort Systems USA MidAtlantic, LLC has been at the forefront of creating safe, comfortable, and efficient facilities in South Central, VA, and North Central, NC. Our state-of-the-art facilities in South Boston, VA, boast over 73,000 square feet, housing offices, sheet metal fabrication, plumbing and piping fabrication, and warehousing.
About the Role:
As a Senior Accountant, you will assist the Controller in managing our accounting operations. Your key responsibilities will include producing periodic financial reports, maintaining an efficient system of accounting records, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). You will also handle specific accounting functions as directed by the Controller.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and enforce efficient accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist in overseeing the accounting department’s operations and structure.
- Oversee job cost accounting and percentage of completion of contracts.
- Ensure timely payment of accounts payable and collection of accounts receivable.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system.
- Ensure periodic bank reconciliations and timely debt payments.
- Maintain control over accounting transactions.
- Issue timely and complete financial statements.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring company performance.
- Report significant budget variances to management.
- Provide management cost reports and financial analyses for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Enforce compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors for annual audits.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings..
- Support timely provision of required information for SEC filings.
- Travel to company subsidiaries as needed for due diligence.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel experience
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential financial information
