Job Title: Financial Transaction Payment Processor / Reconciliation Specialist
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Transaction Payment Processor / Reconciliation Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for processing payments/refunds, investigating, researching, and reconciling transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with company and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a background in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Transaction Management:
- Process payments, refunds, and adjustments across various payment platforms (credit cards, ACH, wire transfers).
- Monitor daily transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies during processing.
- Reconciliation and Reporting:
o Perform in-depth research on payment processing transactions to identify and resolve discrepancies between our loan servicing system and third party ledger
o Reconcile loan payments, refunds, balance adjustments, etc. ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
o Investigate transaction discrepancies, initiate corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution within required company standards
o Develop and maintain documentation of reconciling processes and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
o Collaborate with internal and external teams, including finance, loan servicing, and customer service departments, to resolve reconciliation issues
o Collaborate with other departments to resolve customer issues effectively and timely
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial reconciliation, payment processing, finance, transaction research, or a similar role.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in payment processing systems, financial software, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), etc.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Experience with auditing or compliance is a plus.
- Familiarity with automated reconciliation tools or software.
- Ability to supervise a team of 10-12 processors
- Experience in setting performance goals for team and monitoring team performance to maximize productivity of team members towards maintaining standards
