The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative/Office support for individuals age 55 and over and per EPA Policy applicants must be US Citizen to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. The EPA provides a wonderful work atmosphere, and you'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day. Must be a United States Citizen and live within a commutable distance to the downtown Denver, CO EPA location.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Outreach Science/Technical OR BA/BS Degree

  • Strong oral and writing skills, computer proficiency, experience in information management. Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS OneDrive, Copying Machine, Scanner
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams, Outlook, OneDrive)
Duties:

Assist the Emergency Management Branch (EMB) in implementing, planning, training, exercising, and supporting outreach relations with Federal agencies, states, tribes, local organizations, and the regulated community. Support the EMB Outreach Initiative with tracking, coordination, and planning activities. Support the Site Assessment program with administrative support as outlined below.

  • Provide support to the Emergency Management Branch by developing, managing, tracking, and analyzing technical databases (e.g., outreach, Oil database, FAITAS, EMP, NRC, TERA users, etc.).   35%
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly update the RRT/OSC webpage providing online outreach and education to the public. Regularly provide updates to the National EPA website regarding the Section's work/news/training. Update factsheets and presentation materials.   35%
  • Manage and maintain training schedules for staff. This could include looking ahead at various upcoming required trainings (Core QA, Delegated Approving Officer (DAO), annual QAFAP and Overarching SOP Review, medical monitoring, HAZWOPER 8-hour refresher, First Aid, Radiation Safety Training, etc.).   10%
  • Provide administrative support to the Branch through implementation of the EPA?s Correspondence Manual (https://work.epa.gov/correspondence-manual). Assist EMB staff with access agreements, FOIAs, document preparation, copy editing and proof reading and other administrative tasks.   10%
  • Become proficient in data mining the SEMS database and Qlik applications to pull programmatic reports to assist with strategic planning and trend analysis for the EMB. Assist SAMs keeping up to date with data documentation for sites in SEMS.   10%

Other:
  • In-house training on standard operating procedures for database systems and office management systems.
  • Travel Requirements: 2-3 trips per year for outreach/workshops
  • Overnight travel: 4-6 nights per year
  • Air travel anticipated: 4-6 nights per year
  • Rental cars: 4-6 nights per year
