Position Summary: Advanced Materials Engineer
Location: Nashua, NH

Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEM's globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking an Advanced Materials Engineer to join our team. The position will be located in Nashua, NH.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an Advanced Materials Engineer reporting to the Advanced Materials and Technology Manager you are responsible for developing, monitoring, operating, and improving novel extrusion processes to achieve quality and performance standards of the business.
- Detail oriented individual who will evaluate current and emerging extrusion processes and equipment for their implementation in manufacturing for next generation design
- Validates and optimizes new extrusion processed (die design, materials, auxiliary equipment) for wire coating and cable manufacturing by conducting design of experiments
- Assists in the development and execution of test plans for the validation of new wire & cable components for next generation interconnects
- Serves as a lead in the product design efforts by conducting material testing (thermal analysis, rheology, mechanical testing)
- Analyzes results in Excel, Minitab, Matlab or equivalent to find data-driven insights
- Collaborates with Development and Signal Integrity Teams to continuously improve extrusion design and capabilities
- Plans and executes various Phase Gate projects:
- Design, build, and validation of new products and processes
- Evaluation & assessment of enabling technologies
- Root cause analysis and corrective actions for existing products and processes
- Communicates effectively at all levels using visuals (charts), presentations, and emails
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in, Plastics Engineering, or equivalent education/work experience
- Strong knowledge of wire and cable extrusion, including polyolefins and fluoropolymers
- Experience with polymer processing techniques such as coextrusion and foam extrusion
- Experience in catheter extrusion and vertical extrusion is a plus.
- Proficiency with extrusion auxiliary equipment such as pay-off, take-up, measuring devices, vacuum sizer, melt pumps.
- Proficiency in CAD, and other softwares used for mechanical design and analysis (Compuplast or PolyXtrue experience desired)
- Knowledge of polymer characterization including mechanical, thermal and rheology
- Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Matlab and Minitab
- Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills
