? This position supports the Land and Water Conservation Fund office of the National Park Service and may be performed remotely. ? The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 52 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in federal information technology, IT data management systems, software development, and project management OR BA/BS Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related

  • Knowledge in Information Technology (IT) as it relates to data collection, organization, structure, integration, management, and maintenance, to be used for analysis, models, budgets, research activities, and reports. Capable of tailoring IT industry standard approaches to meet the needs of the NPS to gather and automate business practices in support of program management, budget execution, and reporting.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access
  • Adobe Acrobat; MS Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint, IT Project Management
Duties:

Provide high-level strategic guidance and advice to the Land and Water Conservation Fund office on information technology policies and initiatives.

  • Provide strategic guidance on implementing new technologies. Assess information systems, evaluate needs, and analyze business processes.   25%
  • Manage IT initiatives, including design, testing, implementation, and monitoring of new systems.   25%
  • Produce reports, documentation, and strategic plans to support new systems.   25%
  • Advise the organization on implementing industry best practices and Agile methodology.   25%

Other:
  • Travel Requirements: 4 - 5 trips a year for conferences and state visits
  • Overnight travel: 4 ? 5 trips of up to a week
  • Air travel anticipated: 4 ? 5 trips
  • Rental cars: 4 ? 5 trips
  • Physical requirements: Primarily sedentary office work, but travel may require onsite visit in various terrain.
