About NEW Solutions NEW Solutions is a non-profit agency that has been administering federal grant programs for over 25 years. We partner with agencies to assist them in fulfilling their mission through temporary experienced workers. About the NPS ESP Program The National Park Service Experienced Services Program (NPS ESP) is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees or contractors of the NEW Solutions or NPS. Benefits under the NPS ESP Program NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security. These positions provide opportunities for extra income or temporary placement income. Enrollees accrue sick leave and those that work 30 hours or more a week are offered premium paid medical coverage. Qualifications Applicants must be at least 55 years of age to qualify for the grants. Then, meet the specific requirements of the position. Each applicant must create an account in NEW Solutions Applicant Tracking System and officially apply to the position. Completing the application is a requirement. Position Duration Enrollment positions are structured to be temporary support positions. They are funded for a specific time period and a total number of hours. These are at-will positions and either the enrollee or the agency can terminate the employment at any time for any reason. The total number of hours for this position is currently estimated at a total of 270 hours. Closing Dates NEW Solutions is not a federal agency and therefore does not have closing dates. Positions are open until the agency decides which applicant they would like to have support them in the role. Federal Security Check In most cases, candidates will have to undergo the NPS federal security process before NEW Solutions can begin enrolling them into the program. NPS decides on whether a security check is required and the security process would be initiated by the agency. Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in Communications with a focus on writing and editing OR BA/BS Degree in Writing and Communications

  • Knowledge and familiarity with community planning, outdoor recreation and conservation topics and processes as a communications professional. Graphic design background beneficial but not required. Adobe InDesign a plus but not required.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design), MS Teams, SharePoint, Outlook
Duties:

Coordinate with NPS LWCF Monitors in conceiving, writing, editing, and producing outreach and communication materials and planning documents various LWCF projects. This work may be complemented by support in outreach and engagement planning and delivery.

  • Working with the NPS LWCF monitors, conceive, write, and edit planning materials to communicate with the public and document the planning process. This will include writing and editing of draft and final concept and site plans (recreation and conservation), resource analyses, implementation plans, and related planning products as milestones are reached and planning is completed.   60%
  • Assist in planning and supporting community outreach and engagement through the preparation of outreach and communication materials focused on each LWCF project as needed working with the NPS LWCF monitor. This could include developing and implementing methods and associated outreach and communication materials for substantively involving diverse sectors of the community in the planning process to assure the full voice of the community and stakeholders is represented.    30%
  • If needed, engage in graphic design and production of outreach, milestone, and final planning products working with the LWCF project monitor.   10%

  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to project locations may be required
  • Overnight travel: May require infrequent overnight travel depending on residence of enrollee
  • Air travel anticipated: May require occasional air travel
  • Rental cars: Enrollee may choose to use rental car or personal vehicle
  • Physical requirements: Occasional site visits will require walking on trails and at times uneven surfaces in natural settings.
