New York City Location:

Positions are available throughout Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island boroughs.

Job Summary

School Psychologists are members of the MDE (Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team) who assess the child's cognitive, communication, social emotional, adaptive and physical skills. Our School Psychologists conduct psychological evaluations, social history evaluations, school and home observations for children being evaluated for the Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) program through the Department of Education. For each child being evaluated, the evaluators obtain information regarding the child's development and the child's developmental progress. The School Psychologist is also responsible for writing a rationale for additional assessments needed for all children. The School Psychologist is also responsible for completing draft IEP pages for each child.

Job Responsibilities

•             Schedules, conducts and submits evaluation reports and documents on time including suggested revisions

•             Writes parent friendly and comprehensive evaluation reports and submits reports in a timely manner

•             Maintains consistent communication with department administrative staff regarding clinical questions, timelines, and overall updates and informs them when scheduling issues occur

•             Attends and participates in IEP meetings, when needed

•             Submits a weekly schedule to the Evaluations Manager and the Provider Relations Specialist 

•             Other responsibilities as assigned by manager

Requirement

  • NYS certified School Psychologist, Provisional or Permanent
  • Bilingual Extension in Spanish a must
  • Must be able to read, write and speak Spanish at an advanced or native level.
  • Must be comfortable providing conducting evaluations in both homes, schools and community based settings
  • Experience working with children 2-5 years old a plus
  • Experience with CPSE evaluations a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with families from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Must be organized, motivated, and willing to work as part of a team and independently
  • Strong time management skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases, including but not limited to:  driving a personal vehicle, walking and/or the use of public transportation such as a bus or train.
  • The ability to ascend and descend staircases.
  • The ability to lift 10 pounds regularly.
  • The ability to sit on the floor, kneel and/or crawl for extended periods of time.

Compensation: $70,000 plus opportunity for bonus.
