Director of Business Development and Services

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Director of Business Development and Services (DBDS) plays a key role in helping Erie FCU meet its strategic membership and sales/growth goals. The Director will be responsible for developing and increasing new business (deposits, loans and business services) for the Credit Union, advancing relationships with key business entities, providing marketing support in achieving this goal, cultivating new and existing Business Affinity Partner (BAP) relationships on behalf of the Credit Union and representing the Credit Union in the community. The right individual will thrive as our Brand Ambassador.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Serve as primary liaison and contact for the credit unions existing BAPs.  Contact potential BAPs through mailings, phone calls and/or personal visits in an effort to recruit companies for BAP relationship.   
  2. Make formal presentations to introduce credit union to business owners and employees; answer questions and provide a resource that encourages participation.  Coordinate and facilitate on site account openings with BAPs who offer direct deposit through credit union to employees.
  3. Coordinate and have a visible presence in the local community and sponsor community.  Promote the credit union through visible participation in business, community and charitable organizations and activities.
  4. Be involved with various groups, organizations and/or boards.  Maintain personal networks and participate in professional organizations.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with centers of influence; including realtors, CPA’s, attorneys, business partners, politicians, non-profits, members and potential members.
  6. Build strong and trusting relationships with employees – work in collaboration with marketing, operations, lending and member services.
  7. Work closely with Business lending team and the Operations team to offer business services to new business members. Follow up with all new business accounts opened at EFCU to outline products/services.  Make phone calls to introduce and request meetings with new business accounts, when appropriate.
  8. Follow-up with online mortgage consultations including, initial contact, referral to the Mortgage Consultation group and follow-up when necessary. Coordinate information for mortgage product/services packets for seminars, expos and for all inactive members in mortgage pipeline.
  9. Foster Realtor relationships, recognize realtor participation, create and distribute mortgage/realtor rebate marketing materials to realtors as well as all lenders at EFCU.  
  10. Manage Merchant Referral Program and Newtek relationship. Responsible for adding new businesses to the program.  Continued contact with business owners and personnel. Creating and distributing credit union correspondence and publications to the businesses. 
  11. Maintain a superior level of knowledge of all current consumer and business Credit Union products and services.
  12. Provide feedback to CMO regarding business related activities, service-related issues, and product acceptance.  Recommend solutions to problems, product enhancements and operational changes when applicable.
  13. Keep well informed about the local financial marketplace and the activities of competitors.
  14. Maintain accurate records of Business Client statistics, contacts and business service and loan activities.
  15. Understand credit union policies and procedures and ensure that all Business Services advertising and publications conform to applicable regulatory and compliance guidelines.
  16. Visit all EFCU branches quarterly to deliver information and materials to all front-line staff to develop business for Erie Federal Credit Union.
  17. Track, evaluate and report results of business development activity to the CMO.
  18. Maintain a superior level of knowledge of all current Consumer and Business credit union products and services.  
  19. Represent the credit union at designated, community or credit union related special events and programs.  Promote credit union staff involvement in these activities as appropriate. 
  20. Maintain current knowledge of all Credit Union policies and procedures, including compliance with federal laws and regulations as set forth by the NCUA and other regulatory agencies.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Attend conferences, seminars and training courses relating to areas of responsibility.  May be required to attend volunteer and/or elected official committee meetings. 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  1. High School Education required. A bachelor's degree in business management, marketing or communications related field preferred. 
  2. Credit union or financial institution experience preferred Prior sales account executive and/or business banking sales and development experience preferred. 
  3. Must maintain a valid PA Driver’s license and work with Business clients in the field (Erie and Crawford County area) 75%+ of the time.  Must be able to travel domestically for conferences/trainings.
  4. Must be a highly motivated accountable self-starter, who works well in an unstructured environment and possesses exceptional client relations skills, strong decision-making skills and be detail oriented. 
  5. Must have a team player attitude and disposition, understanding the dynamics of the current team and working within the structure and alignment of the staff. 
  6. Accepts direction and training in accordance with reaching the goals of the position.
  7. Excel at both written and public speaking skills and is able to clearly present the credit union in all forms of written and verbal communication.
  8. Proficiency in computer related functions including Office Suite.
  9. Must be professionally well dressed and groomed.
  10. Must demonstrate genuine passion for position, team and member.
  11. Extensive network of local business contacts and understanding of local business dynamics preferred.
  12. Ability to travel (by air, car, train, etc.) for conferences and exhibitions.
  13. Must meet financial responsibility, character and general fitness of the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (S.A.F.E. Act).
