Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in project management in design and construction environment OR BA/BS Degree in General Engineering, Landscape Architect, Architect, Project Manager OR Previously completed training in construction design and management

  • Project management, mapping, experience with cultural and biological monitoring, field work, and working with historic structures and landscapes.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
Duties:

Enrollee supports disaster recovery projects at National Park Service (NPS) units within the Pacific West Region including Mojave National Preserve, and potentially other NPS units with disaster recovery projects. Enrollee serves as a Project Manager under the direction of the park superintendent, and/or park facilities management staff and is responsible for initiating, establishing, guiding, and controlling multiple design/construction projects from inception (contracting) through completion.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure roads and facilities remain safe, clean, and functional.    30%
  • Prepare scopes of work for maintenance and facility operations projects.   15%
  • Plan and oversee facility improvement and construction projects, ensuring compliance with National Park Service standards and regulations.    20%
  • Coordinate with work crews, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Conduct site visits to evaluate progress.    25%
  • Review and prepare environmental documents, such as categorical exclusions, consistent with the National Environmental Policy Act.    5%
  • Review and prepare permitting documents, such as right-of-way permits, and special use permits, consistent with Directors Order 53 and Reference Manual 53B.    5%

Other:
  • Overnight travel: Limited travel, subject to enrollee availability.
  • Air travel anticipated: Some air travel possible.
  • Rental cars: Rental cars may be required in conjunction with travel.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Review of appropriate Job Hazard Analyses for defensive driving, field work, working on construction sites, etc.
  • Required Safety Gear: PPE such as hardhats and construction yellow vests, possibly radio will be provided for site visits, but enrollee should have PPE such as work boots and protective clothing.
