Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS):

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS). These are experienced professionals who provide technical and professional assistance to the Department of Agriculture for the Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program.

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an "at-will" relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR MA/MS Degree

  • Valid State Driver's license.
  • Experience working with NRCS easement program policy, practices and habitat restoration and evaluation.
  • Experience mentoring and/or training conservation staff.
  • Experience required with Windows, Apple Macintosh, MS Word, MS Excel
  • NRCS Software: MS Teams, Zoom
  • Other Software: Protracts, Conservation Desktop
Duties:

Conduct Farm Bill training in easement field site visits for legal, programmatic policy, habitat evaluation, monitoring, restoration, landowner discussion and other related conservation easement field expertise. Please Note: Applicants must live in state of IN but if live outside of job location, must be able to work from their current IN location.

  • Travel to easement site location and perform monitoring, planning, ranking, Compatible Use planning and other easement field assistance.   50%
  • Coordinate and set up local program easement training events/sessions for field staff to include training in easement field site visits for legal, programmatic policy, habitat evaluation, monitoring, restoration, landowner discussion and other related conservation easement field expertise.   50%

Other:
  • annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to satisfy the duties of the position.
  • Overnight travel: Travel to the field using government vehicles will be required on a routine basis. Valid state driver's license required.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Potential for outdoor work; therefore, hazards associated with rough terrain and changing weather conditions. Enrollee should prepare/dress accordingly.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
