Sugar Land Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is seeking a licensed veterinarian technician to add to our Internal Medicine Team.

As an Internal Medicine Patient Care Technician you will be utilized to your full potential.  Internal Medicine identifies and manages a variety of disease processes. Anything from diabetes mellitus to Cushing's Disease, liver diseases (portal systemic shunt, Copper Storage Disease), respiratory diseases (pneumonia, chronic rhinitis), gastrointestinal diseases (inflammatory bowel disease, fungal disease) and auto-immune diseases (immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, immune-mediated thrombocytopenia). The PCT role:

  • Obtain patient vital signs
  • Collect samples for diagnostics 
  • Execute treatment plans
  • Monitor anesthetic procedures
  • Assist with various endoscopic procedures
  • Provide expert client education including, but not limited to home care, medication instructions, treatment plans and general patient updates

Desired Skills:

 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of medical equipment and terminology.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and calmly in high stress scenarios.

  • Basic critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Understanding of anesthetic and heavy sedation procedures.

  • Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement.
