We are seeking a motivated and experienced Training Manager to lead and enhance our in-house training programs, mentor staff, and contribute to our continuous education initiatives.
Job Summary:
The Training Manager plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive training programs for our veterinary team. This role involves mentoring on-the-floor trainers, organizing in-house continuing education (CE), managing student extern programs, and ensuring that all training initiatives align with our hospital's mission and standards. The position requires a balance of administrative tasks and hands-on involvement with staff across all shifts, including nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:

Training Program Development & Management:

Develop and implement training programs for new hires, existing staff, and on-the-floor trainers.

Regularly evaluate and update training materials to reflect current best practices and hospital protocols.

Coordinate and facilitate in-house CE programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.

Assist in SOP development and implementation.

Mentoring & Support:

Mentor and support on-the-floor trainers to ensure effective delivery of training and adherence to hospital standards.

Provide ongoing feedback and guidance to trainers and staff to foster professional growth.

Student Extern Programs:

Manage and oversee the student externship program, including recruitment, scheduling, and evaluation of student performance.

Ensure that externs receive a comprehensive learning experience and meet their educational goals.

Connect with current employees regarding their progress in school (Penn Foster) and organize extern opportunities in hospital.

Connect with external educational programs who utilize BVER as an externship site.

Conduct interviews with potential externs.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate records of training activities and staff progress.

Prepare and present training reports and metrics to hospital leadership as needed.

Organize and oversee new hire training schedules and onboarding.

Shift Flexibility & On-the-Floor Involvement:

Actively participate in daily operations and provide hands-on support to staff, with an emphasis on training and development.

Maintain flexibility to cover various shifts, including overnight and late swing shifts, to engage with all team members and address any training needs.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with department heads and other key stakeholders to identify training needs and ensure alignment with hospital objectives.

Foster a positive and collaborative training environment that encourages open communication and teamwork.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's or Associates degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, Education, or a related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a specialty or emergency veterinary practice, with a focus on training or education.

Proficiency in using training software and tools.

Certifications: Veterinary Technician Certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) is required.
