Position: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Nashua, NH
Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our High Speed Cable Engineering team. The position will be located in Nashua, NH.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Mechanical Engineer on the HSIO Cable Products team you will support Product Design, providing Mechanical Engineering support to the design, development, and selection of basic hardware components utilizing fundamental mechanical engineering principles, theories, and techniques. Assigned duties may include:
- Design specific elements of High-Speed IO Interconnect and Cable devices or components to meet specified design requirements
- Receive direction from senior engineering staff
- Provide direction to drafting group to assist in the creation of products
- Prepare document reports, generate, and review the technical content of drawings, engineering specifications, reports, and other documentation associated with mechanical design
- Support Continuous Improvement
- Lead sustainment efforts on assigned product lines
- Lead customization efforts on assigned product lines when required
- Provide Mechanical Engineering support to products in production
- Manage material issues, perform root cause assessments of discovered issues
- Perform analysis as required to verify validity of proposed solutions
- Conduct failure analysis of product returned from field and qualification failures
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred)
- 0- 3 years of electromechanical product design/support experience
- Strong Mechanical Aptitude
- Grasp of basic electrical theory
- Ability to support design and development of hardware to ensure requirements compliance
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform tolerance assessments
- Experience with ASME Y-14.5 is a plus
- Ability to perform basic mechanical analysis to ensure good design
- Proficiency with Solidworks 2018 or higher CAD 3D modeling
- Basic understanding Windchill PLM for CAD data management
- Ability to conduct experimentation and basic testing
- Familiarity with basic measurement tools and multimeters
- Familiarity with structural FEA is a plus
- Good communication skills and organizational skills
