Senior Cable Engineer

Senior Cable Engineer
Location: Valley Green, PA
The Senior Cable Engineer will be responsible for leading concept generation, design, verification and qualification of custom cable designs. The Senior Cable Engineer will ensure that product design is manufacturable and will meet the defined customer requirements—including electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements. The position requires close customer interaction and will work as part of a global cross-functional team. The Senior Cable Engineer will work closely with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes through production as well as interfacing with key customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and manage the complete product life cycle (starting from voice of customer, prototyping, product testing, product qualification, and project execution).
- Work with marketing and the customer to define product needs and functional performance requirements and assess technical risk.
- Work with internal and external (vendor) manufacturing disciplines including stamping, plating, molding and assembly to optimize design for production processes.
- Define and execute product cost down plan for cable assembly.
- Work with development engineering to define metal and polymer material choices based on requirements associated with performance, pricing, and global sourcing.
- Work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to ensure products are transitioned to the manufacturing.
- Present product concepts to customers early in development cycle, interpret feedback, and incorporate any revised requirements into the design.
- Define product, application and packaging specifications.
- Manage the resolution of customer application issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a Mechanical / Electrical discipline or equivalent engineering course work and related experience.
- 10+ years of experience and familiarity with high speed cable design and assembly.
- Knowledge and experience with design for signal integrity performance is preferred.
- Industry Standards knowledge and experience is a plus.
- Experience and skilled use of Solid Works, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles, and Statistical Engineering methods.
- Ability to work effectively within a project team and to direct the activity of others as is needed.
- Ability to communicate well with Global Customers and all levels of the organization including Management, Marketing, Sales, Process Engineering, Test Lab personnel, other Engineers (local and global), and Designers (local and global).
- Ability to prioritize work to meet objectives and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
