Job Description:
We are looking for energetic, friendly, compassionate, detail-oriented, and highly skilled Veterinary Technicians to join our team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in both emergency/critical care and general practice, capable of handling both day practice and emergency shifts. This role requires someone who is patient, eager to learn, and compassionate toward animals in their greatest time of need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in the examination and treatment of animals.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients.
- Monitor and care for hospitalized animals.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing education and support.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Participate in emergency and critical care procedures as needed.
- Duties include venipuncture, IV catheter placement, in-house laboratory analysis, radiology, laser therapy, surgical assistance, dentistry, dental radiographs, pre- and post-surgical care, EKGs, anesthetic and cardiac monitoring, client education, and maintaining patient records.
Qualifications:
- Certified/ Licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT) or equivalent qualification and or experience 5+ years.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician (preferably in emergency or critical care) and/or 2-3 years as a Licensed Veterinary Technician or graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technology Program.
- Broad knowledge of animal science, medicine, including pharmacology, and sufficient mathematical skills to ensure accurate drug and fluid administration.
- Proficiency in handling and restraining animals safely and compassionately.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work day practice and emergency shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
