Academic Coordinator, Master of Counselling

Athabasca University's Faculty of Health Disciplines is currently recruiting for the position of Academic Coordinator for the Master of Counselling Program.

The Position:
Reporting through the Master of Counseling Program Director to the FHD Dean, the Academic Coordinator has 2 key areas of responsibility. They include:

  •  Service to the Community: Participation in the life of Athabasca University and the community of which it is a part.
  •  Teaching and Learning: The faculty member will be responsible for developing, teaching and evaluating graduate courses in the MC Program.


Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in counseling psychology required; a Doctorate in counseling psychology is preferred
  • Must be eligible for active status as a Registered Psychologist 
  • The ideal candidate will have three to five years of academic, teaching, and curriculum development experience 
  • Experience in an online teaching and learning environment is an asset
  • New instructor mentorship experience desired 

 

The candidate will demonstrate an ongoing commitment to growing their skills, learning, and contributing across teaching and service. They are an innovative and reflective educator and will have some experience in the online learning environment. Demonstrated experience or potential to both lead and work respectfully and effectively as part of larger teams is essential. Openness and dedication to developing their skills and potential beyond areas of past or ongoing strength or success will be expected and fostered.

As a values-driven scholar, they will act with curiosity and creativity seeking opportunities for personal and organizational growth. The candidate will understand their personal strengths and when experiencing personal challenges, failures, and reflection will lean into these areas for further learning and growth.
