Southeastern Equipment is searching for a PURCHASING SPECIALIST to create efficiencies in purchasing.  This role is located in Dublin, Ohio and is a full time onsite role with minimal travel.

Purchasing Specialist  

 

Primary Responsibility Summary:  

The Purchasing Specialist has a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our procurement processes and inventory management for a multi-location heavy equipment dealership. Primary responsibilities include purchasing whole goods & attachments to support Sales team activity and managing inventory specifications. Duties also involve advising the Sales team on lead times from vendors for special orders, recommending stock levels, supporting long-term inventory planning, and conducting machine searches from other dealers. This position will also lead special projects and build MS Excel tools as needed.

  • Reports to Director of Procurement 

 

Travel Requirements:  

  • Up to 10%, may travel for training

Order Processing and Stock Purchases 

  • Process new orders from the Sales team as needed 

  • Purchase stock attachments and ensure timely procurement 

 

Inventory Management and Planning 

  • Provide support for long-term inventory planning to ensure adequate stock levels  

  • Maintain and update inventory specifications in for accuracy 

  • Create tools to aid in inventory management 

Vendor Coordination and Stock Level Recommendations 

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors 

  • Advise the Sales team on machine configuration, lead times for special orders and update them on any changes as required 

  • Recommend appropriate stocking strategies for machines and attachments 

 

Record Maintenance and Special Projects 

  • Delete or update inventory records as needed, running reports and cross-checking for accuracy 

  • Assist with and manage special projects as assigned 

 

 

Educational and Experience Requirements 

 

  • 2 or 4 year college degree required 

  • Highly motivated, self-starter 

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and inventory management. 

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI 

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills  

  • Ability to recommend and maintain optimal stock levels. 

  • Experience with long-term inventory planning and analysis. 

  • Flexibility to handle special projects and additional tasks as assigned.
