Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in similar duties OR AA/HS Degree in any field

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • MS Outlook; MS Teams or other virtual communication; phone systems
Duties:

Provide support to the NPS National Capital Regional Office in staffing the mail room; hours per week are negotiable (part-time or full-time). Work schedule 4-5 days per week, 6-8 hours a day (also negotiable).

  • Mail Room Operations: Receive deliveries and mail; contact recipients of deliveries as needed; sort and distribute mail; prepare mail and parcels for mail/shipping. Maintains mail room supplies (requesting additional from NPS staff). Works with all major mail and shipping entities: USPS, FedEx, UPS, Amazon, etc. Note: some lifting may be required; assistance may be requested for safety purposes    60%
  • Vehicle keys: issues vehicle keys to NPS fleet vehicles; maintains log of key check-out/check-in   15%
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support, especially in support of mail and fleet operations, including but not limited to data entry, log maintenance, filing.   20%
  • Front Desk Back-up: Cover front desk for lunch breaks or unexpected vacancy   5%

Other:
  • NPS systems and building orientation
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Basic lifting, situational awareness of packages (mail handling safety)
  • Physical requirements: Job is mix of sedentary and moving around the office (mail sorting, etc.); occasional lifting of packages weighing up to 15 lbs may be required
