Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in community planning, recreation planning, grants and cooperative agreements. OR BA/BS Degree in no specific degree required

  • In-depth knowledge of business organization practices, information distribution and demonstrates high levels of communication. Basic knowledge of outdoor recreation or community planning and design with experience in program management and administration. Must have strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Needs to be able to work independently and in teams. Must be able to exercise considerable independence, judgment, and initiative; receive general administrative direction.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • General software for video conferencing; Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, GIS, preferred but not required.
Duties:

Enrollee serves as an Outdoor Recreation Planner in the Office of Recreation Grants, Partnership Team, Midwest Support Office, National Park Service (NPS), supporting the NPS in carrying out the Recreation Grants programs. Enrollee will provide organizational and administrative assistance for Land, Water and Conservation Fund (LWCF) projects and will provide program management support for the development of these projects and potentially others as appropriate.

  • Assists in facilitating the tracking and resolution of post-project compliance issues related to the Land and Water Conservation Fund, State & Local Assistance (LWCF) and Urban Park and Recreation Recovery (UPARR) programs requirements along with their post-completion compliance regulations at 36 CFR Parts 59 and 72.   60%
  • Draft the NPS administrative record leading up to the federal decision on interpreting and applying program legal authorities, policy, and requirements to specific compliance situations. Ensures assigned tasks are in compliance with changes in applicable laws, regulations and policies and assists senior staff in communicating and monitoring implementation for consistency and efficacy.   20%
  • Assist regional compliance staff with development and finalization of Section 106 cultural resources documentation and DOEs; assist with drafting letters and gathering documentation for no effect determinations for review by regional senior staff.   20%
