POSITION SUMMARY:  The Master Mechanic is responsible for inspecting and repairing vehicles and related equipment and may involve direction of employees in mechanic's work.  The work includes engine and transmission overhauls, electronic engine repair, and all related vehicle repairs. Work is primarily evaluated based on the efficiency and timeliness of returning City vehicles and equipment back to normal service. This position works under the direct supervision of the Fleet and Service Center Manager and reports indirectly to the Operations Manager and the Director of Public Works and Engineering.  

WORK HOURS:              Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm; Occasional After Hours Needed
WORK LOCATION:        City of Branson, Missouri; Service Center. This position requires work to be performed onsite.

MINIMUM REQUIRED JOB EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Vocational/technical school training in automotive or heavy equipment repair or two (2) years equivalent experience is required.
Three (3) years experience in diagnosis, repair, and overhaul of gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines and automotive mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems is required.
 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING
Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification preferred.
One (1) to two (2) years of welding experience is preferred.
A Class A or B CDL license is preferred.
 
MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age.
 Possession of or the ability to obtain American Standard of Excellence (ASE) certification in Air Conditioning and Refrigerant Recovery, Auto/Light Truck, Medium/Heavy Duty Truck, and Air Brakes within six (6) months of hire is required.
Must possess a valid Driver's License and be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position. 
A passing grade on the written portion of the Class A or B CDL exam is required before employment.
Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's license with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire is required. 
May require occasional work after hours and on weekends as directed by supervisor(s).
Must be willing to work snow routes that include 12-hour shifts during the months of November through March. 
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service to the department's internal or external customers. 
Must be highly engaged in the department's goals and be able to work cooperatively with Public Works/Engineering leadership in achieving those goals.
Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
Must act safely and follow safety standards while at work.  
Must be able to pass a background investigation, drug and alcohol screenings, as well as a physical agility screening.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:  The starting hourly wage is $23.71 per hour and will increase to $24.66 per hour after 6 months of successful probation.
