For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Agricultural Research Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP). *This position will be open until filled.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in facility management, or property management, or general engineering, or construction management, or maintenance, or project management. OR AA Degree in Construction management, Engineering, Business Administration, Property Management.

  • Knowledge of a variety of facilities operations/maintenance activities and a broad knowledge of trades, such as heating, lighting, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical service, building management/control systems, fire alarms, security systems, etc.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:

Support day to day facility operations and maintenance for the National Agricultural Library. Work involves tasks and visits throughout the facility and requires physical exertion (walking, standing, bending, inspecting and adjusting technical devices.) More strenuous activity is required, such as inspecting inaccessible utilities, climbing ladders, making minor repairs, assisting in lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), and using appropriate equipment.

  • Supports day-to-day coordination of facility operations including building maintenance, roads and grounds, security services, janitorial services, mailroom services, space management and customer service.   25%
  • Monitor and inspect progress of select contracted operations and maintenance projects.   25%
  • Prepares repair and modernization (R&M) project proposals for budget review and approval. Prepares statements of work (SOW), reviews drawings and specifications, and develops Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE).   20%
  • Supports health and safety program.   20%
  • Maintains facility project, asset management, and property records.   10%

  • Training will be provided as necessary by the agency.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Once onboard, the enrollee should complete Collateral Safety Duty Officer training available in AgLearn.
