CARRIER REPRESENTATIVE

Summary
The Specialized Logistics Carrier Representative is responsible for enhancing and increasing the carrier/shipper base for WSL through customer service, dispatch, and booking loads. He/she will contact existing, inactive, or potential carriers to secure shipments for current and future customer requirements; evaluate and maintain a carrier base in the data system on an ongoing basis; and maintain updated information on all available shipments.
 
Duties and Essential Job Functions 
• Negotiate rates with logistics providers, entering and recording all terms and conditions of shipment agreements.
• Attract and retain qualified carriers and logistic providers.
• Qualify new customers/shipments, matching WSL requirements with carrier’s needs and profile.
• Respond to customer request for service and resolve customer issues.
• Communicates with the operations team on load status and problems that may arise.
• Manages a book of business in excess of a million dollars annually.
• Performs other duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned.
 
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
• Strong problem solving and negotiating skills.
• Customer service orientated.
• Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient computer and internet skills.
