Warehouse Technician, 2nd Shift

Summary / objective
The warehouse technician is responsible for assisting the Warehouse supervisor in supervising the shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. Assist warehouse personnel in the processing of receipts, pulling of components for packaging orders, and preparing shipments for shipping in accordance with the production schedule. Transferring components to their appropriate locations.

 

Essential Functions

  • Receiving:
  • Receiving in items delivered to the receiving dock.
  • Verifying the condition and quantity of items received.
  • Processing received items into the computer system.
  • Deliver items processed to the appropriate individual or department.
  • Storing production items in the appropriate locations.
  • Shipping:
  • Ensure that finished product is properly palletized, wrapped, and banded and ready for shipment.
  • Verifying and completing shipping paperwork
  • Following SOPs to ensure that the shipments are shipped correctly.
  • Having all paperwork checked by Quality Assurance/Management prior to s as it is done
  • Distribute completed paperwork to the appropriate department in a timely manner.
  • General warehouse
  • Assist in revising warehouse SOPs as needed
  • Responsible for the operational readiness of the plant working closely with other departments ensuring deficiencies are resolved and completed.
  • Pull and stage components for packaging in accordance with the production schedule.
  • Transport equipment, production items, and supplies to multiple buildings.
  • Assist in Inventory counts of production items
  • Assist in the training of new warehouse personnel
  • Additional tasks as required by management

 

Work environment

Job requires sitting and standing as needed.  Walking, primarily on a level surface to various buildings, periodically throughout the day is also required.  Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist and/or lifting may be required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday.  Proper lifting techniques required.  Activities may also include occasional lifting up to 50 pounds for files, computer printouts and other mostly office related items. Working indoors and outdoors. Climbing stairs inside the warehouse.

 

Physical demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Will be required to stand for long periods of time.  Ability to operate material handling equipment.    This job requires the need to be able to lift to fifty (50) pounds on a regular basis. The performance of this position occasionally requires exposure to manufacturing areas where, under certain circumstances, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection are mandatory.  The primary environment indoors will be ambient room temperature, office lighting and exposure to traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment and outdoor temperatures when driving the company Bobtail truck.

 

Position type/expected hours of work
This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 2pm to 10:30 pm, but extended (earlier or later) work times or weekend work may be required. Training will occur on 1st shift, 6:00am - 2:30pm.

 

Required education and experience

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Class C Drivers License
  • Operate material handling equipment (Pallet Jack, Forklift)
  • Drive 26’ Bobtail truck
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow written instructions
  • Basic math skills
  • Understanding of the metric system of weights and measures
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

Preferred education and experience

  • Pharmaceutical or food manufacturing experience or other highly regulated industries (a plus)
  • Demonstrates a high level of organization in task management.
  • Demonstrates logical planning for task execution & follow-up.
  • Demonstrates a systematic approach to problem solving & troubleshooting.
