Dessert Holdings is looking for a Production Labour Scheduler in Delta, British Columbia who will be responsible for monitoring the production planning and workforce scheduling function.  Assists in analyzing production schedule and staffing patterns, including headcount targets, vacancy trends, attrition rates, and production goals.

Key Responsibilities and Contributions:

  • Prepare production labour schedules for operations with leadership guidance.
  • Work closely with HR and planning to maximize the efficient use of positions and shifts for employees
  • Work with our computerized scheduling program to enter and extract data needed on a daily basis
  • Maintain and improve tracking statistics for labour trends and usage as it relates to production
  • Provide assistance and expertise in terms of labour planning when required
  • Ensures the correct positions are scheduled according to the collective agreement policies
  • Prepares production schedule reports for operations and HR (i.e., attendance tracking, etc.)
  • Track progress and deviations from the scheduling planning and assist with problem solving
  • Follow staffing guidelines to create and post employee schedules in accordance with policies and procedure
  • Update staff schedules daily and respond to employee shortages as required
  • Adjust scheduling as required to facilitate ad hoc events (i.e. training, employee appreciation lunches, etc.)
  • Identify employees scheduling constraints and raise awareness with operations and planning.
  • Address labour scheduling issues and respond to employee concerns and requests around scheduling
  • Organize and complete annual vacation bidding for all unionized employees
  • Continuously evaluate and improve labour scheduling processes
  • Track and confirm approval of employee requests for scheduling changes (i.e. LOA, day off)
  • Provide assistance to employees with forms, scheduling information, general shift change requests
  • Maintain a customer service focus as a fundamental value in daily activities, and maintain positive relations with employees and the Union
  • Document filing and maintenance of employee notice boards
  • Provide back-up support for production schedule changes, when required

Requirements:

  • 3 years minimum experience as labour planner in a manufacturing environment
  • Post Secondary education or equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced technology systems
  • Hands on experience with workforce/manufacturing scheduling systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive interpersonal skills/ people oriented
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and make impartial decisions in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent attendance and disciplinary record
