Director of Accounting
Job Summary: This is a full-time position working under the direction of the Executive Director. The Accounting Director will oversee the financial operations and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, a solid accounting background, and experience managing an accounting team. The Accounting Director will be responsible for implementing and maintaining financial controls, preparing financial statements, and providing insights to support decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with department heads to develop accurate and realistic budgets.
- Monitor budget performance and prepare variance analyses and forecasts.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate and manage external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and the board of directors.
- Systems and Process Improvement:
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement best practices in accounting and financial management.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with financial software (QuickBooks) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems; proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
