The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Knowledge of Agriculture, Natural Resources, Agronomy or related field of study. OR MA/MS Degree in Agronomy, Biology, Environment and Natural Resources and Forestry.

  • Valid State Driver?s license.
  • Experience working with NRCS Practice User Guide, CD, Protracts.
  • Experience mentoring and/or training conservation staff.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • NRCS Software (if applicable): MS Teams and Zoon
  • Other Software (if applicable): Protracts, Conservation Desktop
Duties:

Provide professional support to NRCS with Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP), Conservation Stewardship Program (CStP), Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA), Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) and other programmatic activities. Provides support on all Appeals and ER cases. Serves as key advisor on NAD appeals.

  • Assist with program delivery and the development of report and responses to NHQ.   10%
  • Provide recommendations in the formulation of state policies related to Farm Bill Program.   10%
  • Provide professional support with statewide quality assurance activities related to Farm Bill Programs and in analyzing and monitoring funds.   10%
  • Provides expertise and support on all Equitable Relief, Program Appeals, and National Appeal Division Cases.   35%
  • Helps review and support the development of NRCS Agency Records, Communications, Decision Memos, Post Hearing Communications, and other support related to Program Appeals and related to Agency Adverse Decisions and Food Security Act.   20%
  • Keeps abreast of current NAD decisions and any applicable Statutes and Regulations.   15%

  • Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasionally to satisfy the duties of the position and for training support and NAD appeal research. Valid state driver's license required.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Potential for outdoor work; therefore, hazards associated with rough terrain and changing weather conditions. Enrollee should prepare/dress accordingly.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
