Extruder Operator
This position operates plastics extruder(s) and related downstream equipment in a foam plastics manufacturing environment. The duties include following the production schedule and making sure all supplies needed for production are available. The Extruder Operator will be a team member who has the ability to lead and follow.
Responsibilities:
- Machine set up and operation
- Perform a cold start of the extruder
- Properly shut down the extruder
- Proper setup of downstream equipment specific to the product
- Maintain product specifications by performing quality checks and making adjustments to correct any issues.
- Continuous monitoring of extruder temperature profile, blenders, and downstream equipment.
- Calculate and adjust for the proper line speed and set the proper heat profile.
- Verify packaging and pack out are in compliance with product specs.
- Complete daily reports.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience with plastic extrusion, required.
- LDPE foam extrusion is a plus.
- CAD experience a plus.
- Working knowledge of calipers, tape measures, and pipe tape.
- Good math and mechanical aptitude.
