? This position supports Kalaupapa National Historical Park of the National Park Service and may be performed remotely. ? The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 48 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in federal agency volunteer program OR BA/BS Degree in No specific degree required

  • Experience with NPS volunteer programs preferred but not required
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • Adobe Acrobat, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Volunteer.gov
Duties:

Assist the park is re-establishing the park?s robust volunteer program. Work with park staff to gather viable volunteer opportunities, confirm required administrative documents are in place for opportunities, develop missing documents and recruitment language for positions, and document training for volunteer supervisors.

  • Assess program needs, review and update current documents (Position descriptions, Job Hazard Analysis, etc.) and establish new documents if needed.    80%
  • Support and document park staff are up to date on volunteer program training requirements.    5%
  • Co-manage volunteer activities as needed to support activity and gain program feedback.    5%
  • Review and suggest changes and improvements to SOPs and handbooks.    5%
  • Recruitment activities, such as development and posting of opportunities.    5%

  • Park documentation, systems, and processes; recent NPS volunteer program policy
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to the park may be required depending on enrollee location. One longer or several shorter trips may be necessary.
  • Overnight travel: Potentially 1-3 trips
  • Air travel anticipated: Depending on enrollee location, air travel may be required
  • Required Safety Gear: If PPE is required while supporting volunteer activities, enrollee will be provided appropriate equipment and training on how to use.
  • Physical requirements: Job is primarily sedentary.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
