Tooling Engineer

Position: Tooling Engineer

Location: Etters, PA       

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally and are currently seeking a Tooling Engineer to join our team located in Etters, PA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze engineering drawings, prepare assembly layouts, concept for jigs and fixtures / die
  • Work with engineering teams, initiate designs
  • Perform engineering calculations as related to machine and tool designs
  • Produce working drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies, or product
  • Responsible for communicating time estimates and resource requirements on design tasks to the team lead and project managers
  • Interact with CFT for reviews, trials, evolution of component / tooling elements
  • Provide knowledge to team on drafting, GD&T systems
  • Responsible for design and documentation of tooling to AIS standards
  • Ensures that the activities, documentation, and status of the assigned processes are consistent with Quality Policy
  • Maintain an ongoing understanding and control of assembly machine, tool and/or fixture costs, rates and yields
  • Support manufacturing with assembly machine, tool and/or fixture training and troubleshooting
  • Communicate with the Engineer and Engineering Manager regarding the assigned equipment and tooling activities and needs
  • Communicate with other departments regarding the assigned equipment and tooling activities and needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires access to controlled technology that is subject to US export controls. Qualified candidates must be a US Person (including US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) or eligible to obtain required authorization(s) from the U.S. Government.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; 3+ years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid knowledge of machine automation preferably in the connector industry
  • Solid knowledge of the latest manufacturing techniques used in fabricating tooling
  • Knowledge of Quality Control principles and methodology is an asset
  • Demonstrated applicable technical skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
