Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Managing/maintaining a similar data set, in terms of volume and complexity during the previous 10 years OR BA/BS Degree in Library Science/Data Management/Computer Science background preferred but not required; other science fields or engineering related studies are valuable.

Duties:

The duties and functions of the enrollee will be to assist EPA Region 9 with Class V Underground Injection Control (UIC) inventory requirements and data management for UIC wells in the State of Hawaii. This position will support the Environmental Protection Agency and will be located at the Hawaii Department of Health (HDOH)/Safe Drinking Water Branch/Underground Injection Control Program. The enrollee will work in close coordination HDOD UIC program staff and management to provide technical support to evaluate and manage existing Class V data, assist with inventory collection efforts, evaluate data to develop strategies for enhancing regulatory compliance, conduct public outreach, and report out monthly data summaries and findings to HDOH and EPA Region 9.

  • Class V UIC Database Management/Inventory: including but not limited to organizing existing HDOH UIC records, inputting data, data QA, data analysis and developing reports (both internal to HDOH and for EPA Region 9).   35%
  • Class V UIC Data Assessment: including but not limited to assisting in the identification of unregistered Class V UIC wells and developing strategies for enhancing regulatory compliance.   35%
  • Outreach and Communications: including developing strategies to increase Class V inventory and engaging with the public about the Class V UIC requirements.   15%
  • Staff support functions: including but not limited to assessing incoming communications about Class V UIC inquiries, preparing correspondence, scanning and archiving records and other materials.   15%

Other:
  • Training will be provided on UIC requirements; HDOH and EPA data systems; and other special topics as needed.
