MAINTENANCE AND TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance and Transportation Coordinator is hired by the Director of Operations. This position will report all maintenance, property management, and transportation issues to the Director of Operations, who will then report to the Executive Director. The Coordinator will be under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations.

Exempt Position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees the maintenance and repairs at all residential, program and office sites.

Supervises the daily activities and work assignments of The Arc of SWGA Maintenance staff.

Regularly inspects all residential, program and office sites to ensure that all qualities of each site are adequate and in compliance with local and/or state ordinances.

Schedules maintenance including, but not limited to timely upkeep, replacement of air filters, cleaning out dryer vents, changing light bulbs, checking smoke detectors for proper operation, ballast inspections, conducting quality repairs and upgrades of a general maintenance nature as needed.

Ensures that fire extinguishers at all residential, program and office sites are updated and services on an annual basis by a local fire safety agency that is licensed to provide this type of service.

Ensures that all HUD-assisted residential sites comply with all the physical safety regulations imposed by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, including but not limited to ensuring that no water leaks or electrical hazards are present, all appliances are working properly, interior and exterior pathways are safe and free of obstacles, etc.

Completes all paperwork mandated to be filed by Management with regard to maintenance:  Maintenance Need Request forms, Move-In/Move-Out forms and Annual Inspection forms, etc.

Collaborates with local entities about any necessary specialty repairs to residential, program and office sites.

Develop and maintain a detailed tracking and reporting system for all Maintenance and Operations expenditures.

Supervises the daily activities of the Maintenance Department staff and Transportation staff  

Strategize, manage, and continually refine the transportation operations for the agency. 

Schedules and coordinates all vehicle maintenance and scheduled service updates.  

Coordinates the day-to-day transportation operations for The Arc of SWGA.

Establish and maintain compliance of all transportation programs with state and federal regulations. 

Checks out all transportation vehicles to make sure they are in good driving order with all equipment necessary to safely transport individuals served. 

Promotes and protects individual rights, especially the right to freely make and express preferences in choices regarding their daily living and care, as long as such rights/choices are not detrimental to the individual’s wellbeing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a general knowledge of methods of repair for residential and office settings and at least 3 to 5 years of experience working in maintenance repairs, general upgrades, and renovations. He/she must have supervisory capabilities and excellent organizational skills. Prior experience working in settings that serve individuals with disabilities is a plus.


OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

He/she must be a mature person who is friendly and caring, who can communicate well and who can work independently without direct supervision.  He/she must have a personal vehicle and a valid Georgia driver’s license.  He/she must have knowledge of the agency’s Mission and Vision; must have knowledge of agency’s programs and services.  He/She must be knowledgeable of the accreditation process and how it affects the agency.


TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Local travel to various residential, program, and office locations is required. He/she must possess a cellphone at all times to ensure immediate communication with management. He/she must be available in the event of an emergency and maintain an on-call system involving all maintenance personnel.
