Facility Custodian

This is semi-skilled work involving the care and maintenance of Carastar Health’s facilities in all counties in catchment area and serving as a courier to transport materials and/or clients to and from the various facilities. Also, this position must provide daily clean, sanitary, comfortable, and orderly surroundings for the consumers, employees, and public.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Perform cleaning duties to include cleaning all restrooms, mopping floors, and cleaning sinks and mirrors. Sweep, vacuum carpets, and mop all used waiting rooms and hallways. Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials. Empty garbage in waiting/break rooms, bathrooms, and offices.  Replace used soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and garbage bags. Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, and windowsills as needed.

Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums, polishers, and buffers.

Maintain all areas of buildings and premises by ensuring a sanitary manner that is acceptable to Carastar staff/management as well as state codes of public facilities.

Monitor and report any condition/situation that may be hazardous or cause building deterioration or any defacing of physical appearance of facilities. Immediately report any needed repair, such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken windowpanes, missing nuts, or screws, beds needing repair, etc., to supervisor

Transport materials and supplies to and from all facilities on a scheduled basis.

Perform related work as assigned by the supervisor.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Sufficient physical strength to perform a variety of manual tasks.

Must be skilled in the use of a floor buffer and carpet cleaning equipment.

Ability to drive an automobile and keep it in good working order.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.

Must secure and maintain current CPI and Red Cross First Aid/CPR certifications.

Must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar Health’s insurance carrier.

Must maintain liability insurance coverage on personal vehicle.
