Senior Staff Accountant

Job Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for completing the monthly closing processes for divisional and corporate entities.  Not only should the Senior Staff Accountant review and prepare journal entries, analyze and publish financial statements, but also lead projects, and guide other Finance Department members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and publish financial statements for multiple divisions with differing product lines.
  • Research inventory cost and provide cost analysis monthly.
  • Analyze reporting for inconsistencies, annotating problem areas, and recommending resolutions.
  • Support D365 ERP system help desk, answering questions from all divisions.
  • Manage projects as assigned, ensuring objectives and timelines are met.
  • Analyze established processes for efficiencies.
  • Maintain subsidiary ledgers to include fixed asset maintenance and lease accounting.
  • Coach Finance members in expanding their knowledge base.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance, required.
  • Three or more years of accounting experience required.
  • Experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft D365 a plus.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Deep understanding of the implications of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Possess a continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead a project/team.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Availability for occasional overnight travel is possible with this position.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ambition to work independently with minimal supervision.
