ADULT DAY DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Adult Day DSP assists the Lead Direct Support Professional with preparing and carrying out the daily activities, lesson plans, outings, and operations of the Adult Day Program.  He/she will also assist individuals with their personal needs and maintain safety and sanitary guidelines.  The Adult Day DSP will always show a positive and caring attitude towards the individuals and will maintain strict confidentiality.

Non-Exempt Position.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Helps prepare and complete activity plans coordinates supplies and administers assigned activities to Individuals.

Assists individuals with feeding, toileting, dressing, and other necessary daily living activities.

Attends individual service plans when necessary and assists in monitoring individual’s progress.

Maintains a safe and attractive environment for individuals and co-workers by cleaning and maintaining the work area as needed.

Lists necessary craft and/or activity supplies monthly and submits to supervisor.

Participates in all in-service training and continuing education programs, when offered, to enhance job performance.

Attends all staff meetings.

Completes monthly reports and other documentation as needed.

Assists with project set-up and decorations.

Report’s observations of individual’s behavior to supervisor for referral and appropriate action.

Maintains current CPR, First Aid Training, and all other mandated training.

Responsible for promoting and protecting individuals’ rights, especially the right to freely make and express preferences in choices regarding their daily living and care, if such rights/choices are not detrimental to the Individuals’ wellbeing.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:  High school diploma or GED equivalent.  He/She must have experience working with individuals with disabilities. He/she must have some experience working with individuals with disabilities.  He/she must have a valid Georgia driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

 

OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

He/she must have a caring and patient attitude.  He/she must have a working knowledge of the Albany Advocacy Resource Center’s Mission and Vision as well as the agency’s programs and services.  He/she must have a knowledge and understanding of the agency’s accreditation process and its value to the organization.

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

An individual-friendly environment that allows freedom for socialization and group/individual training.  A business office is provided to enable efficient, daily reporting and meetings.

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

He/She will be supervised by the Adult Day Center Director/ Corporate Compliance Officer.

He/she will have no supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
