Business Lending Portfolio & Servicing Specialist I

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for servicing the business lending portfolio in regard to administration and reporting, along with providing support to the overall business lending function.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review and monitor the Daily Records for business borrowers and/or potential new borrowers. Send and update monitoring reports/Watch lists as seen fit.
  • Assist in gathering annual review financial documents, organizing files, and assist in submission to the CUSO for underwriting. Once underwriting is complete, review package for discrepancies and assist with preparing "Memo" for Lending Committee approval. Update annual review log as necessary.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of internal/ limited reviews along with process any changes, adjustments and amendments to existing notes (for LOCs).
  • Create & monitor the weekly delinquency reports for payment delinquencies. Make calls to members, input collection notes, and coordinate payment arrangements through the Member Solutions department.
  • Track and manage insurance on all loans (hazard, liability, life, vehicle, equipment) and contact borrowers for any updates, lapses, etc.
  • Prepare various financial, regulatory, and special reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, as requested for meetings, audits, etc.
  • Assist the branches with processing business loan payments, and posting business payments manually, including participation loan payments.
  • Reconcile and balance month-end GL accounts for the business lending department.
  • Reconcile daily payments (DAR) for accuracy of posting. Report any inconsistencies or errors to CUSO.
  • Prepare and gather reports for the monthly business loan committee meeting. After meeting, complete meeting minutes and send to the committee.
  • Complete LOC draw requests and communicate back to the members when completed.
  • Answer business members' questions and fulfill information requests via telephone, e-mail and in person.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of department procedures and policies.
  • Provide business lending support and expertise to general credit union staff and serves as a liaison to the branches.  Also works with staff on cross-divisional issues. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of the Erie FCU Business Lending Loan Policy and internal lending procedures.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed commercial banking regulatory compliance guidelines. Ensures all commercial loan relationships are in full compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulatory guidelines are in compliance with Credit Union policies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with all Credit Union policies and procedures, including compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and all federal laws and regulations as set forth by the NCUA and other regulatory agencies.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  • Keeps abreast of appropriate laws and regulations affecting business lending at the credit union in general and the extension of business credit in particular. Attends relevant courses and seminars to build expertise as necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Requires professional, well-developed interpersonal, speaking and writing skills for communicating with businesses, members, co-workers, vendors and other individuals involved in the business lending process.
  • Requires completion of high school education; college degree or higher education preferred.
  • Requires at least two years of general lending experience with one year in business lending preferred.  
  • Must possess intermediate technology skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products, database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to time constraints.
  • Must work well independently and possess strong decision-making skills.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and have strong attention to detail.
