Networking Technician

Applied Card Systems, an affiliate of Roch Capital, is seeking to fill the role of Telecommunications Senior Engineer.  This ideal candidate will have at least one or more years of relevant experience in IT Telecommunications, and must be willing to work IN OFFICE 5 days a week at our Glen Mills, PA headquarters.

 

Summary:

The Telecommunications Sr. Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, and monitoring of equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, PBX, phones, and servers).

Essential Functions:

  • Applies technical knowledge of networking applications in supporting the layer 2 network infrastructure to provide system tuning, prevent network problems; and analyze, troubleshoot, isolate and diagnose network problems.
  • Tests and troubleshoots cable continuity.
  • Responsible for resolving Help Desk tickets.
  • Provide Moves, Adds and Changes support, including wiring and installation of cabling and jacks.
  • Updates and maintains documentation.
  • Implements changes to provide end-users and Customers improved services with minimal interruption to the services.
  • Assures the MDF and IDF facilities are kept clean and organized.
  • Upgrades hardware and software components as required.
  • Tests new configurations prior to implementation.
  • Monitor systems.
  • Identify, trouble-shoot, and resolve issues.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Linux/Unix Operating System, Visio, and Microsoft Office.
  • Provide after hours, on-call support as needed.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • PC skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Provide support for Telecommunications projects/requests.
  • Assist in implementing changes.
  • Ability to run and terminate cabling.
  • Hands-on working experience with Switches and VoIP Phones.
  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with end-users and managers.
  • Ability to apply basic math skills and read/interpret the output from a variety of test equipment, servers, routers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.        
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Working knowledge of Visio to update and maintain network and cabling documentation. 

Education & Work Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent education from a two-year or four-year university or college;
  • Network Design, Network equipment (Firewalls, Routers, Switches) or Network Topology coursework experience preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience
