JOB DESCRIPTION

RESIDENTIAL OVERSIGHT RN

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

 

The Residential Registered Nurse (RN) performs clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned. The RN maintains all medical regulatory and compliance issues for the individuals served by the agency and complies with all state and federal policies and procedures. 

 

Exempt Position. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Implements and monitors individual care plans. Monitors records and communicates individuals' health conditions as appropriate. 

 

Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated individual care. 

 

Must be proficient in the use of electronic medical records.   

 

Assists in collecting data and required documents and signatures as needed for individual service requests. 

 

Completes RN HRST reviews for ratings of 3 and above, which are to be reviewed quarterly at a minimum or as indicated on the HRST policy as needed. 

 

Creates medical safety plans. 

 

Assists with medication administration as needed and/or assigned. 

 

Reviews medical documentation, MAR, home files and completes nursing assessments. 

 

Reviews nursing notes written by LPNs for accuracy. 

 

Review policy medical manuals quarterly and as changes occur in compliance with DBHDD Policy guidelines and waiver standards. Maintain a current copy of NOW/COMP waiver manuals. 

 

Provides HRST training within 30 days of ISP implementation as assigned. 

 

Completes all HRST and reviews as required by the DBHDD HRST Policy within 90 days of the ISP. 

 

Provides information for pre-ISP and ISP as assigned and attends ISPs if available. 

 

Attends monthly nursing meetings, which can be virtual. 

 

Provides information for Critical Incident Reports and CAPS as assigned.  

 

Maintains a working knowledge of Community Standards for all providers, DBHDD, HFR, CLA, PHC, and waiver regulations. 

 

Demonstrates expertise in all DBHDD Medically Related Policies and Procedures. 

 

Follows up on all I&E nursing assessments.  

 

Provide and coordinate individual care and educate individuals and the staff about various health conditions, medications, and healthcare options.   

 

Maintains a working relationship with pharmacies, physicians' offices, and medical supply companies. 

 

Interacts and communicates effectively with all Residential team members. 

 

Provides detailed verbal and written reports on assigned individuals as needed.  

 

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Required:  Must have and maintain RN Licensure plus a minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience and experience with individuals with DD and/or MH. He/she must know about computer software, including e-mail, electronic filing systems, items, and electronic medical records. Must be highly organized, a team player, and able to coach, train, and hold staff accountable. Must be a self-starter who can solve problems and provide creative suggestions and solutions.   

 

OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: 

 

He/she must be friendly and caring and have good communication and organizational skills to prioritize duties, meet deadlines as they arise, and produce reports in a timely manner. He/she must have a personal vehicle and a valid Georgia driver's license. At a minimum, the RN will maintain all required annual training. He/she must have a working knowledge of The Arc of Southwest Georgia's Mission and Vision and the agency's programs and services. He/she must understand the agency's accreditation process and its value to the organization. 

 

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: 

 

The environment will be remote, and community based. Office visits as needed or assigned. 

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS: 

 

The Director of Nursing will supervise him/her.  

 

He/she will have supervisory responsibilities over the LPNs.
